Yolanda Lozano holds ecstatic dances across the western and northwest suburbs, and closes each one with a live sound journey.
Her work
Yolanda is a sound practitioner and dance host based in the Chicago area. Fargo Venue in DeKalb were the first people to hire her for an ecstatic dance, and that night has run monthly there for about two years. She now also holds an evening dance at The Gathering Lighthouse in downtown Lombard, and closes our Sunday mornings in Palatine with a sound bath.
Her evenings follow one arc: an hour of free-form dance, a live sound journey while the room lies down, then herbal tea and a share circle so nobody leaves in a rush. She plays crystal bowls, gongs and frame drum, and she holds the music for the dance herself.
No steps to learn, no partners, no talking on the floor. All bodies and all levels of experience are welcome, with no dance background needed.
