Privacy Policy — Ecstatic Dance Suburbia

Ecstatic Dance Suburbia ("we", "us") runs ecstaticdance.app and the Sunday dance series at Mainwood Dance Club in Arlington Heights, IL. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and the rights you have over it.

1. Information we collect

Contact info you give us — your name and email when you buy a ticket, register a Dance Pass, sign the waiver, or submit a pass sighting.
Payment info — payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. Stripe sends us a confirmation that includes your email, the amount, and a transaction ID.
Waiver records — when you sign the liability waiver, we store your name, email, the date, and the version of the waiver and community guidelines you agreed to.
Sightings submissions — if you submit a photo of a found Dance Pass, we store the photo, the location you describe, and your finder name and email.
Reflections — if you submit a post-dance reflection, we store your responses, your chosen share permission (anonymous, first name, or private), and any contact info you optionally provide. We only use reflections for marketing if you explicitly choose "anonymous" or "first name." Private reflections are never shared.
Basic technical info — standard server logs (IP address, browser, page requested, timestamp) generated by our hosting and database providers.

We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

2. How we use your information

To confirm your ticket or pass and let you in at the door.
To email you about the specific Sunday you signed up for (changes, cancellations, reminders).
To keep a legal record of your signed waiver in case of an incident.
To curate and respond to pass sightings.
To share anonymized or first-name-only reflections to help others understand what the dance space is like (only if you gave permission).
To improve the website and prevent abuse.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not send marketing emails unless you explicitly opt in.

3. Who we share information with

We only share the minimum personal data needed with service providers who help us run this site:

Stripe — payment processing.
Supabase — database and file storage for tickets, waivers, and sightings.
Lovable / Cloudflare — website hosting and delivery.
Email providers — sending you transactional emails (ticket confirmations, etc.).

We will disclose information if required to do so by law, court order, or to protect the safety of the community.

4. How long we keep it

Ticket and pass records: 7 years (for tax and accounting).
Signed waivers: 7 years from the date of the last event you attended (insurance and statute-of-limitations purposes).
Reflections: as long as we are actively marketing the dance series. You may request deletion at any time.
Sightings submissions: until we ask you to take them down or you ask us to delete them.
Server logs: typically 30–90 days, depending on the provider.

5. Your rights

You can ask us to: see the information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or export it. Email ecstaticdance@exponentialenlightenment.com and we'll respond within 30 days. If you're in the EU/UK or California, you have additional rights under GDPR or the CCPA — the same email handles those requests.

Note: we may need to keep your signed waiver on file even after a deletion request, because we are legally required to retain it.

6. Cookies

We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies (login session, checkout state). We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

7. Security

We use HTTPS, row-level database security, and limit who on our team can access personal data. No system is 100% secure — if we ever discover a breach affecting your data, we'll notify you within 72 hours of confirming it.

8. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes we'll update the "last updated" date at the top and, where appropriate, email people on file. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
