Founder's story

It started under a gazebo

David and Kai on the evening they met, September 25, 2023.

On September 25, 2023, around 6:45 in the evening, David and Kai met dancing under a gazebo outside the Himalayan Yoga and Meditation Center in Palatine.

That evening planted a seed. Almost three years later, it grew into Ecstatic Dance Suburbia, and today we dance inside that same center on Sunday mornings, with Kai as our conscious community connector and DJ.

On May 31, 2026, we held the very first Ecstatic Dance Suburbia, at Mainwood Dance Club in Arlington Heights. David, Kai and Joanna led that first morning together.
