Ecstatic Dance Suburbia Sunday Rollout Updates

One Sunday at a time

We’re building weekly ecstatic dance in the suburbs, one Sunday at a time

Three Sundays. A growing possibility.

The weekly-Sunday concept has reached proof-of-concept. October 4, 11, and 18 created three consecutive Ecstatic Dance Suburbia Sundays, and the October 25 collaboration can extend access to a fourth consecutive week.

The next challenge is turning this successful October run into a dependable winter rhythm.

Confirmed progress

  • Today’s event at Mainwood - dance club completed the third consecutive Sunday in the alternating Mainwood–Himalayan rollout.
  • October 25 now has a substantial collaborative program featuring Yoga electronica , David Prorok, DJ Grace Pisula, DJ Supernatural (Dannielle DeWaal), DJ Maubin, Breena Shusterman, Devia Dev, Eric A Gomez, Zacbe Pichardo, and additional offerings.
  • Our marketing has expanded from promoting individual events into building a community and mission:
  • Help people dance again
  • Sober | Barefoot | All Bodies Welcome
  • Community invitations
  • Monthly passes, referral cards, and member discounts
  • We have more real photos of participants and facilitators to use across flyers, web pages, and emails.
  • Our leadership structure with Yolanda and Vilija is becoming established, with weekly logistics and accountability support.
  • Ticketing, monthly passes, mailing-list registration, donations, and reusable promotional materials are already in place.
The mission: help people dance again. Sober, barefoot, all bodies welcome.
October 4 Arlington Heights, October 11 Palatine, October 18 Arlington Heights; next, October 25 collaboration.

Three Sundays completed; October 25 is the next step, not yet a completed fourth week. Weekly access across the wider network is the goal; Mainwood itself remains every other Sunday.

Upcoming milestones

  • Deliver the October 25 collaboration with Rich Cotter and learn how it might fit into the wider Sunday dance network.
  • Secure November–January dates at Himalayan Yoga & Meditation Center with Chenoa Lorenzo.
  • Invite our mailing-list subscribers to the October 25 event.
  • Test Susan Gebhardt’s member-referral offer.
  • Document October’s four-week sequence as evidence that consistent Sunday dance access is possible.

Open decisions

  • Should collaborative partner events count toward the weekly calendar even when they do not use the Ecstatic Dance Suburbia name?
  • Should winter expansion prioritize additional venues or deeper commitments with Mainwood and HYMC?
  • Who can own logistics and follow-up when David is teaching or facilitating?
  • Is there a safe and economically sustainable path forward with Me & Us Studio?

Risks and blockers

  • October 25’s large lineup requires more coordination than our standard Sunday format.
  • Marketing and program complexity are growing faster than our administrative capacity.
  • Expanding into the wrong venues could weaken privacy, financial sustainability, and community trust.

Where we go from here

Our immediate next step is simple: invite people into the October 25 experience. 🎉🌕

Beyond that, we want to listen. 👂

If you have danced with us, volunteered, made tea, held space, shared a post, played music, brought a friend, or simply walked through the door... you are already part of this rollout. 🫶

What would help you dance more this winter? Location, time, carpool, monthly pass, volunteer. Build it with us.

What would help you dance with us more consistently this winter? ❄️

A particular location? A different time? A monthly pass? Carpools? More opportunities to volunteer or facilitate?

Our goal isn't just to produce more events, but to build a dependable community where people throughout the suburbs can dance, connect, express themselves, and feel at home every week.

We are closer than we have ever been, and we would love to build the next chapter with you. 💗

That’s what’s new with us. What would help you dance with us more this winter? 💗
