About us
Ecstatic Dance Suburbia
We're a small, volunteer-run community holding Sunday morning ecstatic dances in Chicago's northwest suburbs. Barefoot, sober, no steps to learn, no partner needed. All bodies welcome.

Why the suburbs
Most ecstatic dances in the area happen in the city at night. We wanted a morning option close to home for people in Arlington Heights, Palatine, Schaumburg, Buffalo Grove, Mount Prospect and nearby towns, so nobody has to drive downtown to dance.
How a morning goes
We open with a short welcome and a few simple agreements. Then the music starts slow and builds into a wave, and you move however your body wants to. We end with stillness and a closing circle.
Afterwards there's tea and conversation. Stay as long as you like.
Where we dance
Our main home is Mainwood Dance Club in Arlington Heights, and we also hold dances at the Himalayan Yoga and Meditation Center in Palatine. Every venue, address and parking tip is on our venues page.
Get involved
Volunteers help set up, greet people at the door and hold the space, and they dance for free. If you facilitate yoga, breathwork, sound or movement, we'd love to hear from you on our contact page.
