DJ guidelines

Our Sunday mornings are a sober, barefoot, no-talking-on-the-floor container. Your set is the spine of the journey. These notes are here so you know what the room needs, and then you get to be an artist inside it.

Before the Sunday

  • Send a mix link that shows a full arc, not only a peak.
  • Send a short bio, a photo and your social handle so we can introduce you.
  • Tell us your setup (controller, laptop, cables) and what you need from us. Ask about the sound setup at each room; it varies by venue.
  • Arrive at least 45 minutes before the opening circle to set up and sound check.
  • Share the date with your people. A full floor is what makes it work.

The arc of the morning

  • Opening circle is at 10:00. Keep music soft or off until the circle closes.
  • Start slow and spacious: grounding, warming up, room to arrive in the body.
  • Build gradually toward a peak, then bring the room down with care.
  • Leave the last stretch for stillness so people can land before tea.
  • Smooth transitions matter more than drops. Avoid sudden silences and jarring cuts.

Music

  • Mostly instrumental or non-English vocals keeps minds out of the lyrics.
  • No explicit or violent lyrics, no songs with heavy cultural baggage played as a joke.
  • Watch the volume. People should be able to feel the music without earplugs, and we share buildings with neighbors.
  • Read the room, not the setlist. If the floor needs to slow down, slow down.

The room

  • Sober space: no alcohol or substances before or during the dance, for DJs too.
  • No talking on the dance floor. Speak with the team quietly at the side if needed.
  • Consent first. If you're dancing too, the same agreements apply to you.
  • No photos or video of dancers without the team's explicit okay.

After

  • Stay for tea and conversation as long as you like. It's where the community happens.
  • Pack up after the closing so the room stays quiet for those still landing.
  • Send us your tracklist or a recording link if you're happy for us to share it.
  • We talk through pay or work-trade for each date before you're booked.
