For the temple board

A monthly ecstatic dance in the main hall

On Friday, September 4, 2026, DJ Big Heart played an ecstatic dance in the main hall and more than 80 people came. This is a proposal to hold it again on whatever schedule the board is comfortable with.

Turnout, September 4

80+ dancers

Evening

7:00 to 9:00 PM, Friday

People asking for the next one

...

What we're asking for

  • The main hall one Friday evening a month, 6:30 to 9:30 PM (setup, dance 7 to 9, then reset).
  • The board's choice of which Friday, and how often.
  • Permission to name the temple and use photos of the hall in our listings and emails.

What we take care of

  • Marketing: a page on ecstaticdance.app, our email list, listings and flyers.
  • Registration and the head count, so the temple knows how many people to expect.
  • A greeter at the door, guidelines read aloud, someone watching the room all night.
  • Setup and full reset. Shoes off at the door, floor swept, cushions back where they were.
  • The DJ and the sound. DJ Big Heart brings his own equipment.
  • Suggested donations go to the temple. We take no cut.

How the room is cared for

  • Shoes off at the door, always.
  • Water only on the floor. No food, no other drinks.
  • Sober and substance free. No alcohol, no smoking, no vaping on the property.
  • No talking on the dance floor.
  • Volume the neighbors can live with, and everyone out by 9:30.

Possible dates

  • Friday, October 2, then the first Friday of each month.
  • Another Friday in October, and that same Friday each month after.
  • Friday, November 6, if October is too soon.
  • Every other month, if the board would rather start slowly.

On a first Friday cadence the next dates would be Friday, October 2, 2026, Friday, November 6, 2026, Friday, December 4, 2026.

Money

Free to attend with a suggested $10 donation, the same as September. Our proposal is that the donations go to the temple. We cover the DJ and the marketing. If the board would rather set a flat room fee, we can work with that.

Who we are

Ecstatic Dance, Chicago & Suburbs & Beyond. We run sober, substance free dances in Arlington Heights and Palatine, and support partner hosted dances in DeKalb, Lombard and Chicago. Everything is listed at ecstaticdance.app/tickets, with a waiver, guidelines read at every dance, and a named person responsible for the room.

What we'd like from the meeting

A yes or no, and if yes, the Friday and frequency the temple prefers plus a first date. We handle everything from there.
